Coated Textiles: Principles and Applications

The formulation of a coated textile is complicated, and it can contain a wide range of chemicals depending on the nature of the polymer, the additives for the specific end use and the type of coating machinery used for its application.

For our customers, we achieve exceptionally high levels of quality. Operating our in-house mixing, coated textile and testing facilities to ISO 9001 quality standards means that we manufacture within tight tolerances with consistent and reproducible results.

Where customers require bespoke characteristics, we can customise coating compounds with additives which impart the following added properties to the resulting coated fabrics.

  • Fire retardant
  • Anti-static
  • Resistance to UV degradation
  • Water repellant

Food grade fabric can also be developed on specific request from customers if required.

Benefits of Digital Printing Fabric

While each form of fabric printing has its own benefits, digital printing has more range than other forms. For this reason, more printers use digital printing for custom apparel printing than screen printing or transfer printing.

Digital prints feel as if nothing is printed on them

When you touch the design of a digital printing fabric, you will feel nothing but the softness of that fabric. You won’t feel the ink at all.

Digital printing dark color is sometimes a bit rubbery, it still comes with the same benefits of screen-printing technology. This makes it easy to adapt to other printing processes.

With larger, printable sizes, digital printing offers more flexibility

As mentioned earlier, the technology of digital printing fabric has evolved to be flexible enough for small, medium, and full fabric designs.

Digital printing fabric is a great option if you’re looking for modern, nontraditional designs.

Cotton and polyester are great for digital printing

More than 60 percent of garments are made from either cotton or polyester. If the garment is not 100% made from one or the other, then a significant percentage is made of cotton or polyester.

Digital printing fabric looks clean, crisp, and clear

Digital printing fabric makes exceptional-looking patterns. It allows for the matching of many visible spectrums of color, though it depends on the unique requirements of the client.

Digital printing fabric is quick and reliable

When compared to other forms of Digital printing fabric technologies, digital printing is the fastest and most reliable. Both transfer printing and screen printing are quite laborious processes.

Digital printing fabric is great for custom apparel printing because it allows you to handle bulk orders within a short period of time.

The advent of digital printing fabric has helped business across most industries grow. From the fashion industry to tech companies wanting to boost employee morale through branded apparel printing. The versatility and innovation of digital printing on fabrics helps businesses build brand awareness and much more.

The Urgency to Textile with Recycled Yarn

The importance of textile with recycled yarn is increasingly being recognized. An estimated 100 billion garments are produced annually, worldwide.2 According to U.S. EPA, around 17 million tons of textile municipal solid waste (MSW) was generated in 2018, about 5.8% of total MSW generation. The recycling rate for textiles derived from clothing and footwear was 13.0%, while the recovery for sheets and pillowcases was 15.8% for the same year. As such, textile with recycled yarn is a significant challenge to be addressed as we strive to move closer to a zero landfill society.

Once in landfills, natural fibers can take a few weeks to a few years to decompose. They may release methane and CO2 gas into the atmosphere. Additionally, synthetic textiles are designed not to decompose. In the landfill, they may release toxic substances into groundwater and surrounding soil.

Textile with recycled yarn offers the following environmental benefits:

  • Decreases landfill space requirements, bearing in mind that synthetic fiber products do not decompose and that natural fibers may release greenhouse gasses.
  • Avoided use of virgin fibers.
  • Reduced consumption of energy and water.
  • Pollution avoidance.
  • Lessened demand for dyes.

Non PVC Banner for Latex, Solvent & UV inks

Non PVC banner is an 11.8 mil durable polyester non-woven fabric with a tight weave and semi-matte finish. This lightweight, recyclable material is an environmentally friendly alternative to vinyl banners. Ideal for indoor and short-term outdoor banners.

Non PVC banner is also a great choice for POP displays, in-store signage and other display graphics. It’s also a cost-effective alternative to traditional canvas. Non PVC banner is compatible with latex, UV curable, solvent, and eco-solvent inks.

Non PVC banner can be sewn, grommeted, or hemmed with Banner Tape. Grommets should be placed in the hemline along the length of the banner so that the grommet is through two layers. Corner grommets should be placed where the length and width hems cross, so that the grommet is through four layers. A reinforced corner is also recommended to increase durability.

Go Green PVC Free Banner Printing

PVC free banner based on a polyester fabric. A black barrier layer provides a high opacity and prevents disturbing shining through even in bright light. It can be used for outdoor applications and can be printed with common eco solvent, solvent, latex and UV inks.

Typical applications are short to medium-term indoor and outdoor advertising messages.

The PVC free banner has a very even, fine structured surface and allows excellent printing results. It is printable on both sides with common eco solvent, solvent, latex and UV inks. The low-reflection, semi-matt banner can be used indoors and outdoors as it is flame retardant according to DIN 4102-1.

Due to the good flatness it can be used for displays and frame systems or freely hanging. The PVC free banner can be eyed and sewed.
